The Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), established in 2003, provides graduate education and conducts expert level research in all areas of intellectual property and competition law. The MIPLC is a cooperative endeavor among the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law, the University of Augsburg, the Technische Universität München, and The George Washington University Law School, Washington D.C.

The MIPLC offers an LL.M. program focused on “Intellectual Property and Competition Law” for students from all over the world. The MIPLC LL.M. program is unique due to its strong international and interdisciplinary focus. Our wide spectrum of courses covers all areas of U.S., European and international intellectual property and competition law, as well as the related areas of economics and business administration. Graduates thus acquire the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills necessary to deal with global IP issues.

MIPLC class size is small and gives students ample opportunity to ask questions and discuss matters with our expert faculty. Our teaching methods heavily emphasize problem-oriented learning and case studies. In addition, each student is assigned a personal tutor who provides personalized assistance. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, with students and faculty from all over the world, the MIPLC provides a place to improve intercultural and interdisciplinary communication skills, and to form personal and professional networks that span the globe.

The MIPLC LL.M. is one year of full-time intensive classroom instruction and study with practical experience and relevant extracurricular activities. Enrollment is limited to 32 students per year. The language of instruction is English.
