Our ESR3, Niccolò Galli, had the honour to present his research poster at the Tilburg Law and Economics Center 15th Anniversary Conference on 9 November 2018.

The Conference, titled “Legal and Economic Challenges in Competition Law”, covered topics such as the role of innovation in competition law, novel theories of abuse of dominance, as well as behavioural economics and competition policy. Its speakers included Paul Heidhues, Pablo Ibáñez Colomo, Marina Lao and Ioannis Lianos, among the others.

Together with Astrid Kiekert and Frank Schlütter (both from the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics), and Wessel Wijtvliet (Leuven Centre for Legal Theory and Empirical Jurisprudence), Niccolò was selected as young researcher to present his work and interact with the participants during the poster sessions.

Within his research on “Patent Aggregation in Patent and Competition Law”, he highlighted the unsettled relationship between patent aggregation and innovation. Given the focus of the Conference, he also specifically stressed the potential competition law issues that patent aggregation conducts may raise when they counter innovation. The many opinions and inputs Niccolò received were highly relevant and worth to be assimilated in his further work.
