Francesca Mazzi and Naina Khanna were invited to give a presentation in front of an audience of IP experts from member companies of EFPIA in Brussels on 12 December 2019. The goal was to share their research object and preliminary field results from their secondment stay at EFPIA.

Naina Khanna started by introducing the European IP Institutes Network Innovation Society (EIPIN-Innovation Society), Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska Curie Action ITN-EJD project to the audience. She then explained her PhD research topic “Patent Quality in the European Pharmaceutical Industry”. Within the scope of her research, she had earlier invited member companies of EFPIA to be interviewed. She also presented her preliminary findings of the interviews she conducted.

Afterwards, Francesca Mazzi introduced the topic of her research on the “Patentability of 4th industrial revolution generated inventions: a case study on pharma”. She discussed the results of the qualitative research she carried out with members of the Federation that agreed to take part in the project, and highlighted the main points that will be used to draw the conclusions of the research.
